March Meeting

3:00pm March 18th @The Bearded Monk

The next general meeting of the Denton County Homebrewers’ Guild was scheduled for 4:00 pm on March 18th at The Bearded Monk in Denton.
However, John MacDonald, the President, is changing the meeting time to 3:00 pm because of a minor conflict at The Bearded Monk that many of us will want to attend, watch, etc.

At 4:00 pm on the 18th they are conducting the judging of the latest installment of the Ballast Point Homework Assignment and at least two of our members are entering the competition. This is becoming a DCHG owned event as Brian (Toast) won the last one and T. Michael won the competition before that. If a DCHG member wins this one, they may have to retire the trophy to DCHG.
So the plan is we’ll have our meeting from 3:00 – 4:00 and then hang around to drink beer, watch the judging, eagerly anticipate the results and have a great time talking about beer.

Minutes 2-11-2017

This month’s meeting attendance: 13 members and 3 guests.

Thanks to everyone who attended this month’s meeting at Audacity Brewhouse. We would like to offer a warm welcome to our newest members Shedrick Pittman-Hassett and Keith and Natalie Green. Thank you for joining the DCHG. As you continue your home brewing adventure, it is our hope that you will discover, as we have, that our General Membership is a gracious, welcoming and down-to-earth group of dedicated home brewers and beer aficionados devoted to supporting the art of home brewing and one another. While our events offer wonderful home brewing development opportunities via regional and member speakers, you will also find through our membership acceptance, new friends, and a collective wealth of professional knowledge.

There are still a few more weekends of beer judging going on at the Dallas Makerspace for the Bluebonnet Brew-off. We encourage everyone to go check it out.

It has been proposed that we move our formal meeting date / time/ venue. It was put to a vote and decided that we will start meeting on the 3rd Saturday of every month at 4:00pm at the Bearded Monk 122 E McKinney St, Denton, TX 76201. Check out http://www.beardedmonk.com/ for more details on this venue.

We have also decided that Audacity will be our remote brewing destination. The plan is to have a DCHG Brew-day at Audacity every other 2nd Saturday of the month starting as early as 1:00pm and ending as late as 8:00pm.

Due to life circumstances Jason Shipley has stepped down as Vice President of the DCHG and we have elected Steve Russell as our new VP. Congratulations to Steve and thanks for taking on this role.

Some of the homebrews showcased at this meeting include:

  • Pecan Porter from Keith and Natalie at Stone Creek Brewing
  • Bourbon Porter and Tripel from Neil
  • Banana Hammock from T Michael and Anna at Tanda Brewery

Again thanks to everyone who attended the meeting this month.

Next meeting will be at The Bearded Monk, March 18th @4pm
